Logic for kids. Sequences. Homemade games.

Today we played a game "make a sequence".
I have given to Seva 2 triangles and 2 squares of one colour, and then 2 triangles and 2 squares of other colour. We took for game two sets of figures.
I have asked my son to invent the sequence from one set for his choice. He has done a variant #1. I saw he liked it.
I 've paid attention, that there can be another sequence from these parts. We did it.

Then I cut two more sets of figures and ask Seva to try to think if it is possible to make more sequences from our parts.
And as a result - there is a colored list of possible sequences on the table.


Tomorrow I will try to make this game more difficult and ask him to invent more possible sequences from a double set of figures without separating one from another.

Homemade logic games, Part 2

2. Black and white puzzles.

One more interesting logic work from our early learning school.
Print any page from colouring book, glue it with a stick to a carton and cut on several parts. Begin from 2, then 4 and so on.

Why black and white? Try to make the picture, it is more difficult in comparison with usual puzzles. It is required from child to be more attractive to lines (only lines not to colours) .
After your work suggest to your child to paint it.

Homemade logic games

1. Cutting figures.
This is one from our lovely games. We have a lot of circles, triangulars ans squares for putting together from parts.
This game is very simple to make. All that you need - a glue stick, a colour paper, a carton and scissors
. You can use colour carton or carton pictires. Sometimes instead of carton lists I use carton box from child food.


Make different figures and cut them for parts. Give parts to your child for putting together.
We like to play that it is a cake and we should cook it for guests (guests are toys) or it's a cheese for mouses. It is funny to play who is faster. I make myself lose and Seva is very happy. So he like to play and ask more and more...

Geometry for children


I am looking for unusual very interesting children books an tasks to stimulate my child brain development. Among them I have one book ("Karapuz" publishing house, the title is "Colured compositions")
I like it very much. It is about introduction to geometry for toddlers. We began to read it when Seva was approximately 2 year old boy. Most of the tasks were too hard for him. Today we tried again. And I see a progress but unfortunately a lot of tasks still very difficult. But I think it is very very usefull. And we'll try more and more....

Logic appliques for children. 3 year

Here is one more kind of logic appliques. Seva did it in his early learning school. Task: stick a drawn figure with triangles and squares.Start this exercise from simple drawings (stick with squares ) and then suggest to child stick with triangles.

Nostalgia.

After the birth of my second son -the first child has quickly grown up. He was such a small and cheerfull baby, and now at once he became such an adult and serious boy.

Applications for logic. Appx. For 2 year old children.

Last spring we got Seva's home works from early learning shool for the year. Among them a lot of applications for logic.
They are usefull In studying of colour, sizes, figures...



Tasks to applique' work:
1. The base of "small house" - exactly to stick with small squares;
2. Stick a fox from triangles;
3. Make a rocket like a pyramid from trapeziums.
4. Arrange triangles exactly in "the drawn" triangles of a flower;
5. Stick small house windows with suitable pictures (squares, triangles, hexagons ...);
6. Close up honeycombs with wax (Place hexagons in windows);
7. Stick balloons to strings according to colour. To a dark blue string - dark blue balloon...;
8. Repair the cracked egg. (It is possible to cut squares, circles, apples and repair a whole image);
9. Stick colour base according to slate pencil
10. Сhoose figures for three bears according to the size;
11. To stick animals whom the bun could meet in the wood;
12. To stick an orange from three parts.

Logic to children. Part1

I've read a lot of children books about logic, and found out the group of the interesting tasks. Variations of them can be used in employment with children without any textbooks. These tasks can be used according to mood of a child. The main thing, that you can use them at home, in a train, to draw it with a stick on a sand.

Draw a square 3х3.
Fill cells (drawings should not repeat in horizontal and vertical rows.
a) Begin with the most simple tasks which are used in books. Leave empty only 1 cell.
b) After the child will master these tasks - increase the quantity of empty cells in the block.
(Draw cars, flowers, letters..., the main thing to maintain a filling principle).c) In an ideal the child will fill all cells independently.

d) Further we complicate the task. Suggest the child to fill empty blocks 4х4, 5х5.
e) Try to consider at filling not 1, but 2 factors. For example, colour and the form. Here it is possible to experiment.
f) And here one more interesting variation on this theme. To draw the block 3Х6. To fill the top line. The task - to fill lines. (Lines should not repeat)


Usually I draw small houses and we occupy animals in it, or garage for cars. Invent together with children!

2. Tasks for attention. After all what is the logic without attention?

a) Draw a square 3х3. We put multi-coloured points in corners of the squares' lines. Ask the child to copy in accuracy it on the next square.
(Seva likes to play that it is the plan of army or sweets in his room. Let your children be free in their imagination )
b and c). To draw a drawing on your plan. We go from simple to the difficult. At first we draw only simple figures according to lines. Then we add diagonals. You can add colours and even change a character of the lines (faltering, wavy).

d) As a variant - not to draw the table, and to put angular points and to be guided on them.

e) it is possible to think out different figures, use writing-books with large cages. And then to suggest the child to repeat for you.
f) From figures we go to drawings there is no any expressed area of division. We copy small icons.
P.S. And also it is possible to suggest your child to fill a various kind of tables. Fill empty cells or try to guess by what principle the table is filled!

Economy for kids. To children about money. Step 2.


To children about occupations.

Base of reflextion:
1. The majority of the trades specified in our favourite "old" children books today are not actual.
2. I don't want my child to choose any of these trades
3. Trades known to children are not connected with money

I do not ask parents to tell about the uninteresting themes. Not at all. In my opinion the child should receive the adequate information on all professions, including the modern. Every kid can tell you about a doctor, a builder even about a chimney sweeper :) But most of the children don't understand who is bookkeeper, economist, programmer. But these are the most demanded trades nowadays (mmm...more precisely before crisis :))).

It seems to me we shouldn't be afraid to talk about it with our children. And to involve them in role games, but not only games of doctors and builders. Try to play with your child as manager, financial analyst, bookkeeper and even dady-programmer ;)

I represent these games approximately like this: One idea:

Game "businessman".
Step 1. The child should think up interesting business. Something he likes to do. For example: to make the pancakes, to grow toy carrot. Then find some buyers (dolls to bye pancakes, hares to bye a carrot). Please, come to an agreement about food delivery by big truck. They need to pay timely (for example - 10 coins per every truck).

Step 2. Find one more toy for making pancakes or growing carrots. We should pay salary to this toy (1 coin, maybe).

Step 3. Sit down and discuss. Where are you going to take a land to grow your carrot...(seeds, flour and other components for pancakes)?
How many coins we can give for it? What about other expenses?

Step 4. Try count what"earnings" you have. Discuss if he can you spend them and for what.

Step 5. Sit down and play..., and of course any time you play you can enter new elements of difficulties.

The elements of difficulties: Take one more toy. It is a bookkeeper. He is going to pay salary and count our spendings.
It is possible to change a part of carrots for something you need. Explain, it is called barter. For example to change a big harvest of carrot for honey and deliver it to bears family.

In this case you can always explain that there are two kind of busines activity - realisation and production. You can sell something you buy or sell something you make. Discuss what is the best business.

Economy for kids. To children about money. Step 1.

I 'll tell you about my thoughts on t theme as it is possible to enter the kid into the world of money and commodity-market relations.

Background of my reflexions:
Once for a long time, at university, till a birth of my child, I have read the book of R.Kiosaki - "the Rich daddy - the Poor daddy".
The book is about to what poor parents cannot learn the child and to that the rich can. At that time it was the best seller. I cannot tell you that everything that I read, has been apprehended without objection. Something has surprised me, has inspired, and something from his reflexions has set thinking and disagree.
For example, I have not found one thing in his book. Kiosaki has devoted the life to earning money. He has reflected on a theme of children's education much. (He reflected on to what his father could not learn him and to that usually do not learn children) etc. But he has not left a place for the child in own life . And, telling the truth, I'm upset with that. I'm still wondered why.

I would not like to think that concept "children" has been brought in the category "passive". Because children demand infinite investments.
Nevertheless, I am very grateful to Kiosaki for ideas. I am grateful to him that he has forced me to reflect and search.
I search till now... but I can share some ideas with you.

For the small children
The first our conversations on "economic" themes were very early. Probably, since a birth. You have thought, I am the madwoman?
You will not hear from me anything especial. A child hears that his daddy goes for work, earns money. I tried to pay attention of my child to similar conversations.
I was not afraid to pay attention of the child to a money. In shop, ( to absolutely small Seva sitting at me on hands), I explained the actions by simple words. "It is shop, Look, here it is a lot of goods. What to choose? Well... We will go to the toy department, it is a cash desk, it is a cashier. The cashier works here. After work she goes home to the children. Our daddy goes to job too.
We will give money to the cashier - She will allow us to take things which we have chosen".

It is wellknown. Use many themes in conversations with your child and its lexicon will be extensive. The child will have more intelligent perception of these themes in advanced age.
I consider that conversations on a theme of commodity-money relations are not an exception.
The child grows up, starts to talk and tells the first "BUY". It seems to me this moment is the the best time to acquaint the child with the world of money, world of work and commodity relations...
We do it through game. (we = parents :))

Here is one of our games :
Game Is called "JOB".
I hold on knees a box with toy cars. I give to my son five coins (Preliminary I wash money with soap). I say Seva that I am the seller of cars. I suggest him to buy any car.
To buy - means to exchange for money. One car - one coin. He is happy and quickly changes all money for cars. Money come to an end but I have more cars. Seva is going to return his money back to buy more cars. I do not give him money. I suggest to earn money almost as our daddy. Seva does not like to go by bicycle though the orthopedist very recommended to do it. I suggest him to transport toy hare on the other end of our room by bicycle. And hare will pay Seva one coin for it.

Complication elements are gradually added in the game:

1 element: I add different coins of 10 and 20. The car price has increased. I explain that it is possible to pay one coin 20 or two 10.

2 element: We have a new hero - teddy bear. The teddy bear wishs to buy a car at Seva. Bear would like to buy a toy very much. So much that it is ready to pay 40 - the double price. I prompt that Seva can buy two cars.
We praise our cars to our toys. Some toys agree to bye the car for double price - others are not agree. Sometimes nobody agree.
It is necessary to go by a bicycle again (To take for a ride a hare, To help the yard keeper Cat to sweep a floor)
Here many variants are possible.

3 element:We do not sell our cars. But we can give them for coins (1х10). The number of coins increases = the number of cars increases. Seva buys additional cars.Further it is possible to complicate and complicate, all depends on your imagination.

About My son
My son's name is Seva. He is 3 year old. I
love him very much (two months ago I have given birth to another little boy Phillip but it is another story :)))
Seva likes reading books, castles from building blocks and Lego, buzzing in his cars as any ordinary child.
And he has simply inexplicable thirst of knowledge. Our house is filled up by children's encyclopaedias and different clever books. And he asks me to read and read and read. His favourite themes for conversation and games - dinosaurs, ancient people, knights and locks, history heroes. And If I make a mistake in the name of dinosaur he will be very upset. He likes poems ( learn them by heart without any difficulties), likes to draw, guess riddles. And recently he has learnt to read. Seva visits swiming pool and school of development for small children. He adores to visit theatres and almost each day off he goes there.

Our friends have nicknamed our Seva the small child prodigy. Have nicknamed because of his interesting thoughts, wide interests and immense curiosity in not children's questions.
But they do not know about our lessons and games. I invent our games, I select for him books, I keep up useful conversations...
Certainly, I know about genetic predisposition. For example, there are themes which are uninteresting. And I can do nothing with it. And there are themes that have very big response in his head. And he can understand them better me.
This is it. If you know some secrets and have necessary information every mom will get the same results (and maybe much better). I am going to share the information I have collected and invented.
